The Force were given a start of around 14.5 points by the bookmakers for last weeks visit to Los Jaguares but they came away with a 16-6 victory. Although that win was only the third for the Force this season, it does keep them in some sort of contention in the Australian Conference where the Brumbies are six points better off. They now return to Perth where the Force won their first two matches of the campaign, against the Reds and the Kings and they made both the Chiefs and the Lions work hard for victory in subsequent home fixtures.
The Highlanders are on a seven match winning streak and they come into this game having beaten the Cheetahs (45-41) in Bloem and the Bulls (17-10) in Pretoria. They came back from a seemingly impossible position against the Cheetahs to protect their play off position and then saw off the Bulls in pretty horrible conditions at Loftus last week. One earlier visit to Australia this season saw the Highlanders carve out an 18-13 victory over the Brumbies in Canberra back in Round 5 and a week later they beat the Rebels 51-12 in Dunedin.
The Highlanders won this one fairly easily despite the Force going into an early 14-0 lead. The Force scored initially through Dane Haylett-Petty and Ben McCalman but the Highlanders responded with tries from Patrick Osborne, Dan Pryor, Matt Faddes and Jason Emery to secure a comfortable 32-20 victory.
The Force have beaten the Reds, Kings and Jaguares while losing to the Waratahs, Brumbies, Crusaders, Blues, Lions, Chiefs, Sharks. This means they have won three of their 10 matches. However, they did win last weekend against the Jaguares in somewhat of an upset in Buenos Aires.
The Highlanders lost three of their opening four games against the Chiefs, Crusaders and Hurricanes while beating the Blues. Since then they have won seven in a row against the Brumbies, Rebels, Blues, Sunwolves, Stormers, Cheetahs and Bulls.
Highlanders should win this fairly easily. Highlanders by 15.
